Okay, I know what you are thinking…

It’s true. I don’t really know how to sew. I have ZERO experience in designing clothes.

What I do have is a lifelong love of clothes, style and learning. I also have my grandma’s sewing machine. This is the game changer. My grandma is the single biggest inspiration for this project. As a kid, I would tell my grandma what clothes I wanted. We would go over fabrics and then she would make the clothes. My love for having my own style (whether good or bad) has remained with me throughout my life. The Hyson carries on the name of my grandpa’s fishing boat but this project of making clothes is meant to capture the spirit of my relationship with my grandma.

I will blog about everything from inspiration and creativity to the technical side of fabrics, patterns, sewing, marketing and presenting. Join me on this journey to create a finished project and offer feedback and advice.

The ultimate goal of The Hyson is to create a menswear brand. The focus of this site is the journey to get to that point. The Hyson wants to connect with like minded people in the industry and create a tribe who will ultimately be the very people that the menswear line will cater to.
